York, PA (May 12, 2023) – One person was injured in a train-related accident that took place in York on the morning of Wednesday, May 10.
According to York officials, the accident happened around 10:15 a.m. on the railroad tracks at 3900 East Market Street near Stonewood Road. Police confirmed that a pickup truck was traveling in the area when it crossed over the train tracks and was struck by an oncoming train. Police have not yet verified why the crash occurred but said that the truck was on the side of the tracks when they arrived, with severe damage to its passenger side.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person involved in the collision sustained injuries in the accident. The injured party was hospitalized, though their current condition is not yet known.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time after the accident. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
