Hopewell Township, PA (July 17, 2026) – Five people were hurt and taken to a hospital after a three-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Plank Road and Rinley Road.
Pennsylvania State Police and emergency units were called to the intersection on Wednesday afternoon, July 15, around 3:01 p.m. after reports that a driver might be trapped inside one of the vehicles. Crews found the driver still trapped when they arrived.
Emergency units worked to free the driver and help everyone get to safety. Nearby roads were shut down for a time while a detour was set up.
No identities have been released following the collision. Police is still working to determine what caused it.
We hope everyone involved makes a full and speedy recovery.
Liability after a multi-vehicle accident in Pennsylvania generally rests with the driver or drivers whose carelessness caused the vehicles to collide, though fault can be split between more than one driver under the state's modified comparative negligence rule, with each driver's share decided case by case.
People caught in a chain-reaction can face a range of outcomes, from soft-tissue strains to more serious harm such as broken bones or head trauma. Some injuries, including whiplash or internal bleeding, are not always obvious right away and can take hours or days to fully show up. Follow-up medical care is often needed even after an initial hospital visit.
A car accident lawyer can help by gathering police reports, medical records, and witness statements to build a clear picture of what happened at the intersection. An attorney can also communicate with insurance companies on a client's behalf and explain what types of compensation may be available for medical bills, lost wages, or property damage.
