Lansdale, PA (February 9, 2023) – At about 5:49 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, February 8, a man was hurt in an ambulance accident at an intersection in Lansdale.
According to Towamencin Township Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Sumneytown Pike and Bustard Road. Police confirmed that a Nissan Altima was traveling in the area when it was involved in a collision with a local ambulance due to reasons that are not entirely known. Both vehicles sustained damage as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and other Lansdale responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Nissan, identified only as a 53-year-old male, was rushed to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Nobody else sustained injuries as a result of the collision.
The roadway was blocked until noon as police worked to clear the scene. This led to delays in the area for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
Our thoughts and prayer go out to the party who sustained injuries in this accident. We hope that they receive a full recovery.
Ambulance accidents are not as common as other accidents on our roads. This is due to the fact that ambulance drivers are supposed to be some of the safest drivers on our roads, using special care so that accidents do not occur. In just one year’s time in the U.S., it is estimated that an average of 6,500 ambulance accidents take place due to the recklessness of others. Approximately 60% of ambulance-related accidents occur during an emergency. If you or someone you know has been hurt in an accident involving one of these emergency vehicles, it is crucial that you speak with an attorney that you can rely on.
The aftermath of an ambulance accident might be one of the most difficult things that you have ever endured. The unfortunate reality is that many ambulance accidents can be prevented but continue to happen due to reasons like speeding or fatigued drivers who have spent too long on our roads. Serious injuries sometimes occur in these accidents, which can land a victim in the hospital or cause them to miss out on time in the workplace. If you have been hurt in an accident, you should speak with a skilled and compassionate Lansdale personal injury lawyer immediately.
