Philadelphia, PA – Danyel Tingle Killed in Bicycle Accident on Westford Rd

Philadelphia, PA (January 30, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal bicycle collision that took place at an intersection in Philadelphia on Friday night, January 27.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Westford Road and Ashdale Street. Police confirmed that a bicyclist was traveling in the area when a driver in a 2005 Chevrolet came along and slammed into the bicyclist due to reasons that are not yet known. The driver then fled the scene of the accident without stopping to check on the cyclist.

Several local responders, including Philadelphia paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has since been identified as 41-year-old Danyel Tingle from the area, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene around 8:42 p.m.

Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle that struck the cyclist called police around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, after the accident occurred. He was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving without a license, and several other charges.

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
