Kutztown, PA (April 12, 2022) – A student was struck in a serious pedestrian accident that took place on a college campus on Monday afternoon, April 11.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 3:07 p.m. on Kutztown Road. A student at Kutztown University was crossing the roadway in a crosswalk when they were suddenly struck by a Volkswagen Passat that was headed northbound. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The student, who has not yet been formally identified, was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital by ambulance. They have since been listed in critical condition.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
