Philadelphia, PA (March 9, 2023) – A man was seriously injured in a pedestrian crash that took place at an intersection in Philadelphia on Wednesday evening, March 8.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Civic Center Boulevard and University Avenue. Police confirmed that a silver or gray SUV was traveling in the area when they went through the intersection, colliding with a male pedestrian. The driver got out of their vehicle to check on the pedestrian and then got back in, fleeing the scene.
Several Philadelphia responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, who has only since been identified as a 70-year-old male, was injured in the accident. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment and has been listed in critical condition.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the collision.
