Lower Merion, PA (June 19, 2026) – A person was rescued from an overturned vehicle on Thursday night, June 18, after a two-vehicle wreck near City Avenue and Lancaster Avenue, by the Philadelphia-Lower Merion border.

The Penn Wynne Fire Company said emergency units arrived and stabilized the overturned vehicle on its side. The windshield was removed so the driver could be safely pulled out.

Crews also secured the second vehicle's battery and controlled any fluid leaks at the scene.

What led up to the crash, and how many people were hurt, was not immediately clear. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

We hope everyone involved makes a smooth and full recovery.

Who Pays for Medical Bills After a Car Accident in Lower Merion, PA?

In Pennsylvania, medical bills after a car accident are commonly paid first through personal injury protection, known as PIP coverage, which is part of every driver's auto insurance policy, regardless of who caused the crash. Once PIP benefits are exhausted or if a claim exceeds those limits, the at-fault driver's liability insurance may be responsible for the coverage of additional medical costs.

People involved in rollover crashes usually face serious injuries such as head trauma, spinal injuries, and internal injuries, given the forces involved when a vehicle flips onto its side or roof. Treatment for these types of injuries can include emergency surgery, hospital stays, and months of physical therapy, all of which can add up quickly, even with insurance coverage in place.

When medical costs go beyond what PIP and liability insurance cover, an injured person may need to look at other options, such as their own health insurance or a personal injury claim against the at-fault driver. Pennsylvania also allows injured drivers to choose between limited and full tort coverage when they purchase auto insurance, and that choice can affect what kind of compensation is available after a crash.

A car accident lawyer can help injured victims understand which insurance policies apply to their case and how to pursue compensation for costs that aren't fully covered. Legal guidance can help clarify what options may be available to support ongoing medical treatment and recovery.
