Waynesboro, PA (June 15, 2024) – Three people were taken to the hospital after an explosion at Johnson Controls in Franklin County earlier this week, and authorities have now released further details related to the incident.
According to Mary Kay Seville with the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services, two people were taken from the scene by helicopter after an explosion around 7:30 a.m., per officer reports on Wednesday. Pennsylvania State Police say the three people each have non-life-threatening injuries ranging from minor to severe, though troopers did not expand on their identities or current conditions.
State Police say the machine/equipment where the explosion occurred was damaged, but the rest of the building was unharmed. Troopers say the incident is believed to be accidental, but an investigation is still ongoing. A Johnson Controls spokesperson released a statement on Tuesday afternoon in response to the incident, ensuring further inquiry, but no additional details have been released. Witnesses or those with additional information were asked to get in touch with Waynesboro investigators.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
