Philadelphia, PA (January 24, 2023) – A woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Philadelphia around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, January 22.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Oregon Avenue and 6th Street. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the area when she started to cross the road at the intersection. She was suddenly struck by a driver in a silver SUV. The driver of the SUV immediately fled the scene of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 43-year-old Savoun So, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to severe injuries. Police confirmed that she was only a block away from her home when the accident occurred.

A large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area following the crash. Police did not confirm if they found the responsible driver.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
