West Chester, PA – Michael Ghione Killed in Bicycle Accident on S High St

West Chester, PA (February 21, 2023) – Around 10:16 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, February 21, a man was killed in a fatal bicycle accident in West Chester.

According to Chester County officials, the accident happened on South High Street around the area of the PA-202 overpass. Police confirmed that a police vehicle with the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department was traveling in the area when it became involved in a collision with a bicyclist. The bicyclist and the cruiser were both traveling north at the time.

Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has since been identified as 75-year-old Michael Ghione, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was harmed in the accident.

The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic near the accident as police worked to clear the scene. This led to slight delays in the area.
