Stewartstown, PA (May 1, 2022) – Around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 30, a young boy was killed in a Stewartstown dirt bike accident.
According to local officials, the accident happened on Plank Road in Bedford County. A 9-year-old child was on a Kawasaki dirt bike and pulling out of a driveway to cross over onto Plank Road. A Nissan was traveling through the area and did not see the boy pulling out of the driveway, causing the two vehicles to forcefully collide.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 9-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Nobody inside the Nissan was hurt in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with more information as it is available.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Dirt bike accidents and those involving ATVs can be extremely severe in nature. The fortunate fact is that they do not happen as commonly as other accidents on our roads. The unfortunate fact is that, when they do, they tend to lead to some of the most extensive harm. In fact, these accidents sometimes take the lives of those involved when they do occur. Drivers of passenger vehicles are supposed to always be on the lookout for the drivers of vehicles who are more vulnerable than them. Those on dirt bikes and ATVs have no protection from harm, which means that lives can be taken in the blink of an eye. If you have lost someone you love in a dirt bike accident, you should be prepared to speak with an attorney immediately.
