Shirleysburg, PA (January 27, 2023) – A woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on Friday morning, January 27, in Shirleysburg.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened at 5:35 a.m. on PA-522 just east of Erwin Street. Police confirmed that a female pedestrian was walking alongside the road in the area and attempted to cross the street. While doing so, she was struck by a vehicle that was headed north. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 54-year-old Tammy Dunn, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was injured in the accident.
Several lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
