Our sympathies are with the family of the victim who lost their life in this crash.
Statistics from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania indicate that between 2012 and 2020, more than 1400 pedestrians died as a result of automobile accidents. As a result, the state ranked ninth among the deadliest states for pedestrians in the country.
Pedestrian accidents are more likely to result in fatal injuries. These victims have no protection during crashes. They lack any steel frames to protect them that motorists are provided while inside vehicles. Pedestrians often suffer severe head trauma and other injuries that ultimately take their lives. Unfortunately, a significant number of fatal pedestrian accidents that we see statewide involve some form of negligence. Speeding motorists, drivers who fail, and drivers who are distracted are among some of the leading causes. No matter what act of negligence claimed the life of your loved one, accepting the death is never an easy thing to do.
