Philadelphia, PA (September 12, 2022) – An ambulance worker was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident that took place in Philadelphia on Saturday morning, September 10.
According to Philadelphia officials, the accident happened at 200 West Chelten Avenue in the early morning hours before 10:30 a.m. Police confirmed that an ambulance crew was in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and attempting to transport a patient in need to the hospital. Another private ambulance crew arrived at the scene to help. One of the drivers in one of the ambulances got out of the vehicle but the ambulance started to roll backward. The driver quickly jumped back inside to get the vehicle to stop but struck the accelerator instead of the brake. This caused the ambulance to pin a worker between the two ambulances.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. The female worker was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment of traumatic injuries. She was tragically pronounced dead while there around 11 a.m. The victim has since been identified as 32-year-old Nisha Dash. Nobody else was injured as a result of the collision.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
We offer our warmest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim whose life was taken in this accident.
