Philadelphia, PA (September 25, 2022) - Four people were injured in a hit-and-run accident that took place in a Philadelphia neighborhood on Friday afternoon, September 23.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. at 5800 Henry Avenue in the Roxborough neighborhood. A driver was traveling through the area when they suddenly lost control, causing their vehicle to slam into two pedestrians who were crossing the street and then a building. The driver of the vehicle then got out and fled the scene on foot.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrians, identified as a 32-year-old woman and her 9-year-old daughter, sustained critical injuries in the accident. They were both immediately hospitalized. The two passengers inside the vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries but have not been taken to the hospital.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. It is not known if the building was deemed structurally sound after the accident or not.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
