New Stanton, PA – Betty Wagner Killed in Head-on Collision on Middletown Rd
New Stanton, PA (September 22, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal head-on collision that took place on a roadway in New Stanton on Wednesday afternoon, September 21.
According to Fayette County officials, the accident happened at 4:45 p.m. on Middletown Road. Police confirmed that 23-year-old Breanne Weber was traveling on Middletown Road when she suddenly crossed into the wrong lane of traffic due to reasons that are not entirely known. This caused her to crash head-on into a Kia Sedona.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other New Stanton responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Kia, identified as 73-year-old Betty Wagner, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Weber sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked in all lanes of traffic for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Weber showed signs of impairment at the scene; however, police have not said if charges have yet been filed.
