Maxatawny Township, PA (December 2, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal car accident that took place at an intersection in Maxatawny Township on Thursday morning, December 1.
According to Berks County officials, the accident happened around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Fleetwood Road and Bowers Road. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when they suddenly became involved in a collision with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged due to the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One of the involved individuals, identified as 63-year-old Adam Hoyer, was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital with traumatic injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead an hour after arrival. It is not known if anybody else was hurt in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, the road was blocked at the intersection for some time. This led to extensive delays in the area.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the accident continues. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.
