Philadelphia, PA (December 1, 2022) – One person lost their life in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a roadway in Philadelphia on the morning of Friday, December 1.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened around 6 a.m. on Roosevelt Boulevard around the area of Tyson Avenue and Cottman Avenue. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking across the street in the area when they were allegedly struck by a passenger vehicle due to reasons that are not entirely known. The driver of the involved vehicle pulled into the median and remained at the scene following the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic for some time. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
No further details have been released, but the investigation into the accident continues.
We offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victim whose life was taken in this accident.
Pedestrians are some of the most at-risk parties on our roads in the state of Pennsylvania every year. These parties have no protection from harm in an accident, which means that they are likely to become seriously injured in an accident or even lose their lives. Hundreds of lives are taken every year in Pennsylvania pedestrian accidents. In fact, on average, between 2012 and 2020, it was reported that 158 pedestrians were killed in Pennsylvania accidents.
