Harrisburg, PA (May 5, 2022) – Around 3 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, May 5, a car crash led to injuries on a major highway in Harrisburg.
Harrisburg Police confirmed that the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-83 around the area of exit 45, Paxton Street. Though police have not confirmed the exact circumstances leading up to the collision, it is believed that several vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision. The vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Several local responders, including Harrisburg fire crews and medics, were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more parties were seriously injured in the accident. The parties were taken to local hospitals, though their identities and conditions are not known at this time.
Several southbound lanes of traffic were blocked for some time following the accident. Police worked to quickly clear the scene.
