Shohola Township, PA (June 21, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash in Pike County on Friday afternoon, June 19, claimed the life of one person and left three others with serious injuries, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 4:34 p.m. near house number 261 along Route 434 in Shohola Township. Investigators reported that a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed into the opposing lane while negotiating a curve and collided head-on with a southbound 2012 Honda Civic.

The Jeep reportedly rolled over following the impact and left the roadway, striking a utility pole and a tree. The driver, identified as 65-year-old Francis J. Connaughton of Shohola, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Honda driver, a 17-year-old girl from Naples, New York, suffered suspected serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. Two passengers, identified as Eric S. Bersch, 45, of Lake Ariel, and a 13-year-old boy, were also seriously injured and transported for medical treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
