Delaware Co., PA – Worker Killed in Tree Accident on 300 Blk of Earles Ln

Delaware Co., PA (March 19, 2026) – On Tuesday morning, March 17, emergency responders were called to the 300 block of Earles Lane in Newtown Square following a fatal workplace accident in which a tree fell on a worker.

Authorities confirmed that 43-year-old Gilberto Sinecio Feregrino of West Chester was pronounced dead at the scene by the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident occurred while Feregrino was operating near a wood chipper as part of tree maintenance work. One of the trees being tended collapsed, causing fatal injuries.

Fire and EMS crews arrived promptly to assist, and the scene was secured while police investigated the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials think that strong storms with heavy rain and wind the night before may have contributed to unstable conditions, as some trees in the area were weakened or had root rot. Additional details about the incident have not been released.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased during this difficult time.

Evidence Needed in a Fatal Work Accident Case in Pennsylvania

When a worker is fatally injured on the job, gathering comprehensive evidence is essential for any potential legal or insurance claims. Proper documentation can help families understand the circumstances of the accident and preserve their rights.

  • Accident Scene Documentation: Photographs or video of the site, equipment involved, and surrounding conditions can provide objective evidence of hazards or environmental factors.
  • Official Reports: Police, fire, and medical examiner reports detail the incident and the cause of death. These documents are critical for understanding the sequence of events and verifying facts.
  • Witness Statements: Testimonies from coworkers, bystanders, or first responders help corroborate the circumstances of the accident and provide additional perspectives.
  • Employment and Safety Records: Records of company safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and employee training may be relevant, especially if questions arise about workplace safety compliance.
  • Medical and Autopsy Reports: Documentation from medical personnel and the medical examiner establishes the cause of death and supports any claims related to workplace injury or liability.

Maintaining organized records of all available evidence and working with a qualified wrongful death accident attorney ensures that families are prepared to pursue claims effectively. Legal guidance can also help navigate communications with insurance companies and regulatory agencies.
