Delaware Co., PA (March 19, 2026) – On Tuesday morning, March 17, emergency responders were called to the 300 block of Earles Lane in Newtown Square following a fatal workplace accident in which a tree fell on a worker.
Authorities confirmed that 43-year-old Gilberto Sinecio Feregrino of West Chester was pronounced dead at the scene by the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident occurred while Feregrino was operating near a wood chipper as part of tree maintenance work. One of the trees being tended collapsed, causing fatal injuries.
Fire and EMS crews arrived promptly to assist, and the scene was secured while police investigated the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials think that strong storms with heavy rain and wind the night before may have contributed to unstable conditions, as some trees in the area were weakened or had root rot. Additional details about the incident have not been released.
