Millerstown, PA (March 20, 2023) – At an unknown time on Friday, March 17, a serious pedestrian accident took place on a major roadway in Millerstown that injured one individual.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened on West Juniata Parkway, about half a mile west of Perry Valley Road. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the travel lanes when they were suddenly struck by a Mazda 3. The pedestrian was thrown onto the roadway as a result but was not hit by any other vehicles.
Several responders, including Millerstown fire crews and paramedics, were immediately called to the scene. The pedestrian, who has only been identified as an adult male, was seriously injured and rushed to Hershey Medical Center by helicopter. The driver and passengers inside the Mazda were not hurt.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time, which led to extensive delays. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
No further details have been released, but the investigation continues. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the pedestrian who was hurt in this accident with hopes of a speedy recovery.
