Springfield Township, PA (May 29, 2026) – Two people were killed Thursday night, May 28, after a wrong-way driver triggered a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 in Springfield Township, York County. The Pennsylvania State Police reported that the collision occurred near Exit 10 in Loganville around 10 p.m.

Investigators stated that 75-year-old Deborah Williams of Middle River, Maryland, entered Interstate 83 at Exit 10 and began driving north in the southbound lanes in a Honda CR-V. A southbound SUV could not avoid a head-on collision with the Honda, causing the SUV to overturn and the Honda to spin into the travel lanes.

A pickup truck driver approaching the wreck pulled onto the shoulder after seeing oncoming headlights, but both the Honda and the overturned SUV struck the truck. A fourth vehicle, a sedan, was also unable to stop in time and hit the overturned SUV.

The identities of those killed in the accident have not been released. The investigation into the crash remains active.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of both people who lost their lives.

What Families Should Know After a Fatal Wrong-Way Crash in Loganville, PA

When a wrong-way driver causes a fatal crash on an interstate, the families of those killed may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim in Pennsylvania. Under state law, the personal representative of a deceased person's estate can file a claim against any party whose negligence contributed to the death.

Wrong-way crashes are among the most legally clear-cut cases of driver negligence, and when multiple vehicles are involved, the resulting claims can be complex and require careful identification of all parties affected and all losses suffered. In Pennsylvania, wrongful death claims must generally be filed within two years of the date of death.

Survivors of multi-vehicle crashes involving a wrong-way driver can face devastating physical consequences. Head-on collisions at highway speeds frequently result in traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, and internal trauma that require extensive and ongoing medical care. Those who were hurt but survived may also have personal injury claims alongside the wrongful death claims brought on behalf of those who did not.

A wrongful death attorney can help families identify all liable parties, preserve evidence from the crash reconstruction, and navigate the legal process during an extremely difficult time.

If you have lost a loved one in a serious collision, there may be legal paths available for your family. At Edelstein, Martin, and Nelson, we have extensive experience representing fatal accident cases across Pennsylvania.
