Susquehanna Township, PA (September 19, 2024) – One person was killed after an early morning crash in Dauphin County on Thursday, according to the Susquehanna Township Police Department.
Two vehicles collided in the 2200 block of Walnut Street in Susquehanna Township around 2:30 a.m., near the National Civil War Museum. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals for their injuries.
One of the drivers was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Their identity has not yet been released. Meanwhile, all lanes of Walnut Street were shut down for several hours while crews were on the scene. Witnesses with information on the collision were asked to call officers, though no further details were released in the interim. An investigation is still ongoing.
We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victim's family. Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
Pennsylvania is home to thousands of vehicle accidents annually, resulting in serious injuries or fatalities for many drivers. Like residents of many other states, Pennsylvanians may be particularly concerned about the dangers and risks of truck accidents, especially when traversing the multi-lane roadways and heavily trafficked interstates spanning our state. Of course, Pennsylvania sees a lot of truck traffic because of the state's vast system of roads and interstates.
Moreover, accidents involving multiple drivers are even more likely to be catastrophic and even deadly. For example, in one recent year alone, 166,000 of these accidents occurred throughout the United States, around 4,700 of which resulted in deaths. Though Florida, Texas, and California were the top states for these accidents, Pennsylvania wasn't far behind. That said, those interested in filing claims against the insurance company of an at-fault driver in a Pennsylvania accident may face an uphill battle, given the large assets and resources of these major corporations. Oftentimes, these companies try to intimidate victims into making unfair settlements.
For these reasons and more, following a vehicle accident caused by another party's negligence, victims can and should take legal action with the help of a skilled attorney.
