Snow Shoe, PA (February 17, 2023) – Around 5:30 a.m. on the morning of Friday, February 17, a man was killed in a fatal truck crash in Snow Shoe.
According to Centre County officials, the accident happened on I-80 around the area of the local rest area by mile marker 145. Police confirmed that three tractor-trailers collided in a chain-reaction crash in the eastbound lanes due to reasons that are still being investigated. One of the tractor-trailers sustained severe front-end damage, with the engine ripped out. There was oil and debris all over the roadway in the area.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. One of the truck drivers, who has since been identified as 46-year-old Galdino Negreros, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma injuries. One party was severely injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment, though their current condition is not yet known.
All lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time following the collision. This led to extensive delays until the scene was cleared.
