Phillipsburg, PA (December 14, 2023) – A crash involving a Phillipsburg School District bus with students on board shut down the eastbound lanes of Memorial Parkway (Route 22) near Morris Street on Tuesday afternoon.
Phillipsburg Superintendent of Schools Greg Troxell said 22 students were on the bus at the time of the crash. He said he is unaware of any major injuries involving the students, who were first and second graders at the Phillipsburg Primary School, though EMTs evaluated several students at the scene. The other vehicle involved was a Ford Focus. The road reopened at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. In addition to local first responders, Pennsylvania State Police were also at the scene of the crash. The crash site is less than half a mile from the Route 22 toll bridge. However, the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Phillipsburg Police Department and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time.
A bus accident can be an extremely devastating event to go through. These accidents often result in severe injuries for those involved. This is due to the fact that buses are much larger than other vehicles and carry far more passengers than standard cars and trucks. Additionally, most buses do not have seatbelts, which means people are likely to be thrown around or ejected from the vehicle during collisions.
Those involved in bus accidents are likely to suffer severe trauma to the head, broken bones, and internal organ injuries as a result of their accidents. Unfortunately, injured victims often have to spend a significant time undergoing medical care.
If you have been harmed in a bus accident, you must understand the legal options and your rights moving forward. A Phillipsburg vehicle accident lawyer can help you better understand the options that you have and which ones will work best for you. In most cases, crash victims pursue legal action against the person responsible for the crash taking place.
This type of legal action, a personal injury lawsuit, can help you get money for your medical costs, the pain and suffering you have endured lost wages, and more. It is in your best interest to file a legal claim right away to ensure you have all of the evidence needed to prove that the defendant was negligent and that you deserve the compensation that you are requesting.
