Police reported that a 72-year-old man driving a Nissan Pathfinder suffered a medical emergency while traveling northbound. His vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, struck a parked Audi, and then jumped the sidewalk.
A 60-year-old woman walking along the sidewalk was hit when the vehicle left the roadway. Emergency units responded and provided care before transporting all injured individuals to nearby hospitals.
The driver and a 68-year-old female passenger both suffered critical injuries, including multiple fractures and a head injury. The pedestrian sustained a facial laceration.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.
After a Philadelphia pedestrian accident, insurance coverage starts with the driver’s auto policy. In many cases, the driver’s liability coverage may apply if they are found responsible for the crash. Pennsylvania also allows for certain no-fault benefits, which can affect how initial medical expenses are handled.
Pedestrian accidents can lead to injuries that require immediate and ongoing care. People may experience cuts, fractures, or head injuries depending on the impact. Medical treatment may include emergency care, follow-up visits, and possible rehabilitation.
Keeping clear records after a crash can help make the process easier to manage. Medical bills, treatment notes, and communication with insurers can provide a timeline of events. This documentation may help address questions that arise during the claims process.
Insurance companies may review police reports, medical records, and witness statements when evaluating a claim. These details can help determine how the crash happened and what coverage may apply. When multiple people are injured, claims may involve more than one policy.
In some situations, additional coverage, such as uninsured or underinsured motorist protection, may be reviewed. This can be important if the available insurance does not fully cover the losses.
A personal injury lawyer can review accident details, insurance policies, and medical records to explain what options may be available. They may assist with organizing paperwork and answering questions about the process. Speaking with a lawyer can provide clarity without pressure.
Legal consultations often focus on explaining options rather than making immediate decisions. Clear information helps people feel more prepared during recovery.
