Philadelphia, PA – Passenger Killed in Fatal Car Accident on Roosevelt Blvd

Philadelphia, PA (December 13, 2022) – One person lost their life in a fatal car accident that took place around midnight on Monday, December 12, in Philadelphia.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened before midnight at the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Rising Sun Avenue. Police confirmed that a 29-year-old man was driving a Honda in the area and was stopped at a red light at the intersection. His Honda was suddenly struck from behind by a Kia that was speeding. The driver of the Kia then lost control and his vehicle flipped over several times, ejecting a passenger. The driver of the Kia then got out of their vehicle and fled the scene, though witnesses said that he was limping.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The passenger who was ejected from the Kia was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 29-year-old driver of the Honda was not hurt as a result of the crash.

The roadway was completely blocked at the intersection for a period of time following the accident. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident at this time.
