Philadelphia, PA (November 30, 2024) – Officials are investigating a deadly fire in North Philadelphia as of Saturday morning, November 30.
Firefighters responded to the 2400 block of North 17th Street around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday to find smoke coming from a three-story rowhome. Crews were able to place the fire under control in about 17 minutes, but the body of the male was found on the third floor. A second person was taken to Temple University Hospital.
However, the investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues, and witnesses were asked to contact Philadelphia Police officers or Pennsylvania State Police fire marshals.
We offer our sincerest condolences to the deceased victim's family. Our thoughts are also with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
Residential fires take place every single day in Pennsylvania. Though some are quickly brought under control by fire crews, others blaze out of control and lead to extensive damage. Some fires lead to fatalities in those involved. In 2020, it was reported that approximately six people were killed out of every 1,000 fires throughout Pennsylvania.
