Butler, PA (June 8, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal car accident that took place at an intersection in Butler on the night of Tuesday, June 6.
According to Butler County officials, the accident happened at an unknown time in the evening at the intersection of Route 8 and Litman Road. Police confirmed that 51-year-old Julie Parison was traveling south on the highway when she suddenly slammed into the back of a Chevrolet Trailblazer with her Ford Fusion. The Trailblazer was stopped at the intersection at the time of the collision and was pushed into a Chevrolet Malibu that was also stopped at the light. The involved vehicles were badly damaged in the collision.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A passenger inside the Trailblazer, identified as 61-year-old Kevin McAttee, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the Trailblazer, a 53-year-old woman, was rushed to the hospital by medical helicopter. The driver of the Malibu, identified as a 59-year-old man, sustained injuries and was hospitalized, but his condition is not yet known.
Police later confirmed that Parison was driving on the wrong side of the road when the accident happened. An officer who responded to the scene was able to identify that Parison was drunk at the time of the collision due to glossy eyes and slurred speech. She admitted that she drank four Four Lokos before the accident. She has since been charged with homicide by vehicle, DUI, reckless driving, failing to stop at a red signal, and more.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time after the collision.
No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
