Philadelphia, PA – Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Grant Ave

Philadelphia, PA (August 8, 2022) – A man was struck and killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a Philadelphia roadway on Saturday night, August 6.

According to Philadelphia officials, the accident happened late at night on Grant Avenue around the area of Blue Grass Road. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling on Grant Avenue when the driver collided with a pedestrian who was walking in the area. The driver reportedly attempted to slam on their brakes but was unable to do so in time, colliding with the pedestrian and throwing them across several lanes of traffic.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A passerby stopped at the scene and attempted to save the pedestrian’s life, who has since been identified only as a 39-year-old man. They were unable to do so and he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian has since been identified as a 20-year-old man who was not injured in the accident. Police said no charges have been filed against him as of yet.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time.

No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the accident.
