Philadelphia, PA – Man Killed in Auto-Pedestrian Accident on Island Ave

Philadelphia, PA (March 29, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Philadelphia on the morning of Tuesday, March 28.

According to Philadelphia Police, the accident happened on Island Avenue in the southbound lanes. Police confirmed that a 27-year-old male pedestrian was crossing the street in the area when he was suddenly struck by a 65-year-old man in a Nissan. The male pedestrian was pushed into the northbound lane and then struck by a second vehicle that did not stop in time. The driver of the second vehicle kept driving without stopping, while the driver of the first vehicle stayed at the scene.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was allegedly hurt in the collision.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
