Philadelphia, PA (April 14, 2025) – A 72-year-old man was found dead after a house fire in Philadelphia's Ogontz section on Monday, April 14.
The fire broke out on Monday evening in the 3700 block of Virginian Road, near West Chew Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke in the second-floor bedroom of a middle rowhome.
It took about a half hour to get the fire under control. The body of the man was found a short time later, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the investigation into the circumstances of the fire continued, and witnesses were asked to contact local authorities or Pennsylvania State Police fire marshals.
We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased man's family members.
Residential fires take place every single day in Pennsylvania. Though some are quickly brought under control by fire crews, others blaze out of control and lead to extensive damage.
