Mt. Union, PA (March 4, 2022) – Around noon on Thursday, March 3, a man was injured in a pedestrian accident after a stabbing in Mt. Union.
According to local officials, the accident happened on US-22 at the local Dairy Queen. An 18-year-old identified as Kaitlyn Stutzman was fighting with a 55-year-old woman inside the restaurant. She stabbed the older woman multiple times until patrons attempted to intervene and stop her. Stutzman ran out the back of the restaurant and got in her vehicle. When she tried to drive away, she struck 32-year-old Kaine Swope.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both Swope and Stutzman were transported to UPMC Altoona for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Police found Stutzman at her home later on during the day. She has since been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and other charges.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
