Mount Cobb, PA (March 18, 2025) – Seventeen people were injured after a charter bus carrying members of a bagpipe band crashed into a tractor-trailer in northeastern Pennsylvania on Sunday evening, March 16.
The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. as the bus was exiting westbound Interstate 84 near Mount Cobb. According to Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Shaffer, the bus collided with a parked tractor-trailer that had no one inside at the time.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the injured passengers to area hospitals. Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that all 17 individuals suffered injuries. The Greater Scranton Black Diamonds Pipe Band was returning from a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Milford when the crash occurred. Band representatives stated they expect everyone to recover and have adjusted their performance schedule accordingly. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
