Lebanon, PA (November 21, 2025) – One person died on November 21 after a violent head-on crash on Route 322 in Lebanon County.
The collision happened around 5:15 p.m. when an SUV and a tanker truck struck each other near S Mountain Lane. The crash caused the tanker to rupture and spill a large amount of fuel across the roadway. Officials reported that almost 500 gallons of fuel leaked onto the pavement by 6:30 p.m. Hazmat crews rushed to contain the spill and prevent further spread.
Lebanon County regional police closed Route 322 between PA 72 and PA 501 as they managed the scene. The closure extended into Lancaster County due to the size of the fuel spill. Officials did not give an estimate for when the roadway would reopen.
Emergency responders confirmed one fatality from the crash. They did not release the victim’s name or age. Officials also did not say which vehicle the person occupied during the collision. First responders checked the area for other injuries but did not share further information. They continued to monitor the tanker truck and the spill to ensure that no one else faced danger.
Troopers started collecting details to learn what caused both vehicles to collide head-on. They examined the crash scene and spoke with any drivers who stopped nearby. They also searched the roadway for tire marks and debris that might explain how the crash started. The investigation remains active as officials gather more facts.
Our thoughts are with the victim's family and loved ones during this challenging time.
Fatal crashes on Route 322 happen more often than many drivers realize. This busy roadway connects several communities and carries heavy traffic each day.
