Carroll Twp, PA - Two Dead in Head-on Collision on Rte 34

Carroll Township, PA (July 5, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash that closed multiple roads in Perry County on Saturday evening was confirmed fatal, and one of the victims has been identified.

According to State Police in Newport, on July 5, at approximately 8:15 p.m., authorities were dispatched to Route 34 (Spring Road) between Old Mill Road and Landisburg Road in Carroll Township, Perry County, for a report of a crash.

Upon arrival, troopers encountered a crash that involved an SUV and a truck. Troopers say the crash occurred when the truck crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck the SUV head-on.

Troopers said one passenger of the SUV was declared deceased on the scene. The operator of the truck, identified as William Richey Jr., of Shermans Dale, was later pronounced deceased at Penn State Medical Center. In the interim, the police advised motorists to avoid the area and stated that their investigation remains ongoing.
