Bristol Borough, PA (April 3, 2025) – Three family members were killed Thursday after they were struck by an Amtrak train in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Bristol Borough Police Chief Joseph Moors said officers initially responded around 6:00 p.m. at Beaver and Prospect Streets at the Bristol Station. Three people were struck by an Amtrak Northeast Regional Train 85 en route to Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, according to officials.

Service on Amtrak and SEPTA's Trenton Line was suspended for hours before trains began moving late Thursday night.  However, anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the County Police Tip Line, and updates on the incident are expected as the investigation continues.

We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victims' family members.

Pedestrian Accidents in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania sees a significant number of pedestrian accidents each year. According to PennDOT, more than 4,000 pedestrian crashes are reported annually across the state, with many resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. Urban areas like Philadelphia often have higher rates of pedestrian-involved incidents due to heavier traffic and higher foot traffic.

Here are some common causes and consequences of pedestrian accidents:

  • Driver Negligence: Many crashes occur when drivers fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks or are distracted by devices. This negligence puts pedestrians at extreme risk.
  • Crosswalk Safety: Poorly marked crosswalks or intersections without pedestrian signals can contribute to accidents, especially in high-traffic areas.
  • Serious Injuries: Pedestrian accidents often result in severe injuries, including broken bones, head trauma, and internal damage, due to the lack of protection for those on foot.
  • Economic and Emotional Toll: Victims and their families may face mounting medical expenses, lost wages, and emotional trauma following an accident.
