Breezewood, PA (July 14, 2023) – On Thursday, July 13, two people sustained injuries in a truck accident that took place near an intersection in Breezewood.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and North Breezewood Road. Police confirmed that a camper was traveling west on the highway near the intersection and was in the middle lane. A Freightliner truck was stopped at a red light at the intersection. The driver of the camper suddenly lost control of the camper due to the brakes failing, causing the front end to slam into the back of the truck. Both vehicles then traveled about 200 feet before they came to a stop, sustaining immense damage.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. Both the driver and passenger inside the camper sustained serious injuries. They were flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment, though their conditions are not known. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
Several lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.

In that year, 7,244 accidents involving large trucks took place throughout Pennsylvania. Out of these accidents, a large percentage lead to injuries, and some deaths as well.
