Berwick, PA – One Killed and Others Injured in Pedestrian Accident During Fundraiser
Berwick, PA (August 14, 2022) – One person was killed and many others were injured in a pedestrian accident that happened during a fundraiser in Berwick on Saturday evening, August 13.
Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that the accident happened around 6:15 p.m. outside the Intoxicology Department bar. The bar was holding a fundraising event that was supposed to last the entire day following a fatal fire that happened on August 5. A driver allegedly struck a crowd of dozens of people who were gathered in front of the bar. He then fled the scene and struck his mother with his vehicle at her residence.

A total of 17 patients were rushed to local hospitals for treatment after being struck in the incident. Five were listed in critical condition and the others are expected to recover.
Police later arrested the driver of the vehicle, who is also suspected of setting the fire on August 5. He has since been identified as 24-year-old Adrian Oswaldo Sura Reyes, who has been arrested for criminal homicide and various other charges.
The investigation into the circumstances of the incident continues.
We offer our warmest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. We also offer our thoughts and prayers to the parties who have been hurt in this accident.
