Washington Township, PA (July 10, 2026) – Four people were hurt Thursday evening, July 9, after a multi-vehicle crash that involved four vehicles on Route 66 at Mamont Drive.
The crash was reported shortly before 5 p.m. in Westmoreland County. Emergency units were sent to the scene to help those hurt and manage the roadway.
Three people were taken to a local trauma center by ground, while a fourth was flown by helicopter, according to Murrysville Medic One. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
Township police are investigating the crash. No further details about how the four vehicles came together have been released.
We're thinking of all four people as they receive treatment.
Determining fault in a multi-vehicle crash commonly requires more investigation than a standard two-car collision, since more than one driver's actions may have contributed to how the vehicles ultimately came together.
People involved in a serious multi-vehicle collision usually face a wide range of injuries, such as fractures, head trauma, and internal injuries, and recovery can involve extended hospital stays, surgery, and long-term rehabilitation.
Pennsylvania follows a modified comparative negligence rule, meaning an injured person can recover damages as long as they're found less than 51 percent at fault, though this becomes more complex when many vehicles and their respective insurance companies are involved.
While investigators review how the crash unfolded, a car accident lawyer can help track the findings as they're released and work to determine how fault should be divided among the drivers involved.
