Harrisburg, PA (September 3, 2025) – Three people were hurt when a red minivan drove through a crowd on Monday, September 1. The crash happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. on S Front St near the Kipona Festival footprint. Officers were still clearing the area when the vehicle bypassed barricades and parked cars. The minivan then entered a group of pedestrians.
Police said a 6-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman were taken to local trauma hospitals. The child was listed in critical condition on Tuesday. An adult man received treatment at the scene. Investigators identified the driver as a 37-year-old York Haven woman. She was hospitalized following the incident.
According to officials, the driver showed signs of impairment during contact with officers. She now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault by vehicle and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI. Authorities also noted that she appeared drowsy and briefly fell asleep during booking. The Harrisburg Bureau of Police continues to collect statements and review area video.
City leaders expressed support for the victims and praised first responders. South Front St reopened after investigators finished taking photographs and measurements. The defendant’s bail was set at $350,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17.
We hope that those involved in this crash make a full and swift recovery.
Crowded festival zones create complex risks. Cars, barricades, and foot traffic mix in a tight space. A single reckless act can cause severe injuries. Pedestrians have little protection from a moving vehicle. Even at city speeds, impacts can cause head trauma and internal injuries.
After any pedestrian crash, get medical care right away. Symptoms can appear hours later. Keep every record tied to the event. Save ER bills, imaging, therapy notes, and pharmacy receipts. Photograph the scene when it is safe. Capture lane markings, debris, and sight lines. These records help show the crash’s full impact.
Insurance questions can feel overwhelming. Claims often involve multiple carriers and disputed facts. Quick statements can harm a case. Consider speaking with a trusted advocate before dealing with adjusters. An attorney can preserve nearby video, gather witnesses, and coordinate experts.
