A man thrown from a vehicle suffered serious injuries early Sunday in Wayne County. The incident took place north on the Easton Turnpike in Salem Township, just before 2:00 a.m., state police at Honesdale said.
Officers added that the man was hospitalized at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, though it's unclear if anybody else was hurt. Troopers with the PSP are investigating in the interim, but have asked any witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this challenging time.
Pennsylvania closed 2024 with 1,127 traffic-related deaths—the second-lowest figure since PennDOT began tracking crash data in 1928. Yet each number on that chart represents a life cut short and a family left to cope with profound loss. When a loved one is killed in a crash, surviving family members have the right to file a wrongful-death action against every party whose negligence contributed to the collision. To prevail, you must show that the at-fault driver (or another responsible party) owed a duty of care, breached that duty, and caused the fatal injuries that led to your damages.
No lawsuit can erase the pain of losing someone you love, but it can provide the financial stability needed to move forward. Wrongful-death damages in Pennsylvania may cover final medical bills, funeral and burial expenses, the decedent’s lost income and benefits, and the family’s loss of companionship and guidance.
Insurers often move quickly to limit their financial exposure, offering settlements that fall far short of what families truly need. An experienced personal injury attorney can gather evidence, negotiate aggressively, and take the case to trial when necessary, ensuring that those responsible are held fully accountable.
