Union Twp, PA – Adrian Jemmott Identified in Fatal Truck Crash on I-81

Union Township, PA (August 5, 2024) – Troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police have identified the person killed in a crash involving three tractor-trailers on Interstate 81 in Lebanon County over the weekend.

Troopers said Adrian Jemmott, 31, of Trenton, New Jersey, was the passenger in a truck involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Saturday in Union Township. Jemmott was pronounced dead at the scene. After the collision, the rear end of the truck that Jemmott was in then entered the left lane, and another tractor-trailer struck it.

Troopers added that the other two drivers were taken to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, though there is no word on their current conditions. The interstate was closed for more than eight hours, but an investigation is still ongoing in the interim.

We extend our sincerest condolences to Adrian Jemmott’s loved ones. Our thoughts go out to any injured victims and their families.

Deadly Truck Accidents in Pennsylvania

Thousands of vehicle incidents occur annually in our state, resulting in severe injuries or fatalities for numerous drivers. Pennsylvanians, like residents of numerous other states, may be particularly apprehensive about the hazards and risks associated with multi-driver accidents, particularly when traveling on the heavily trafficked interstates and multi-lane roadways that traverse our state. Of course, Pennsylvania experiences a significant amount of vehicle traffic due to its extensive network of interstates and roadways.

In addition, incidents that include several drivers or heavy-duty vehicles, such as trucks, have a significant probability of becoming catastrophic and even fatal on these roadways. For example, at least 166,000 truck accidents occurred throughout the United States in just one year. Approximately 4,678 of these were fatalities as a consequence of these serious wrecks. And even worse, even though Florida, Texas, and California were the states with the highest number of accidents, Pennsylvania was not too far behind.

Pennsylvania had around 10,000 to 12,000 truck accidents in the same year, meaning that our state ranked fourth for these semi-truck severe collisions. Approximately 250 to 300 people lost their lives in these incidents, and more than 4,000 to 5,000 were injured. That said, those interested in filing claims against the insurance company of an at-fault truck driver in a Pennsylvania truck accident may face an uphill battle. In other words, victims do not deal with the average motorist in these claims.

Regrettably, many insurance companies are concerned with minimizing their financial liability and increasing their profits to benefit their bottom line. Furthermore, since trucking companies are involved, victims are often up against well-funded enterprises that have an army of attorneys fighting for their interests, leaving victims and their families to attempt to cover their losses out of their pocket. For these reasons and more, following a vehicle accident caused by another party’s negligence, victims can and should take legal action with the help of a skilled attorney. Luckily, accident victims can benefit from getting in touch with a Union Township truck accident lawyer as soon as possible.
