New Alexandria, PA – Sandy Jones Killed in Fatal Truck Accident at PA-22
New Alexandria, PA (November 4, 2022) – On Friday morning, November 4, a woman was killed in a fatal truck accident that took place in New Alexandria.
According to Westmoreland County officials, the accident happened around 10 a.m. at the intersection of PA-22 and White Thorn Road. Police confirmed that 79-year-old Sandy Jones was traveling in the area in a Ford Escape when she was struck a westbound tractor-trailer that was carrying a large concrete beam. The car was extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Sandy Jones sustained blunt force injuries in the accident and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by EMS crews. It is not known if anyone else was injured in the collision.
Due to the severity of the accident, westbound traffic was blocked and re-routed for several hours.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision continues.
