Union County, PA (April 7, 2026) – A 70-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Union County involving a teenage driver.

According to state police, the crash occurred Saturday afternoon, April 4, at the intersection of Route 15 and Loan Road. Investigators say a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old was traveling north when it failed to slow for a red light and struck a vehicle ahead that was already slowing to stop.

The impact pushed the second vehicle off the roadway. The driver, identified as Richard Marion of Watsontown, was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, 69-year-old Valerie Marion, was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of Richard Marion during this difficult time.

How Does Insurance Work After a Fatal Crash Involving Multiple Drivers in Union County?

After a fatal crash involving more than one driver in Union County, PA, insurance claims can become complex, especially when serious injuries or loss of life are involved. In Pennsylvania, insurance coverage often begins with personal injury protection (PIP), which may help cover initial medical expenses regardless of fault. However, in fatal cases, additional claims are typically considered.

Insurance companies will carefully review the crash to determine what happened and who may be responsible. This often includes examining police reports, vehicle damage, witness statements, and any available evidence from the scene.

When factors like failure to stop, speed, or seatbelt use are involved, those details can influence how claims are evaluated.

Because multiple people and policies may be involved, there can be several insurance companies reviewing the same incident. This can lead to delays as each insurer works through its own process and coordinates with others.

Families may also be contacted by insurance representatives during this time. Keeping track of conversations, saving important documents, and organizing records such as medical reports and related expenses can help make the process more manageable.

As the investigation continues, new information may come to light that affects how claims move forward. Staying patient and organized can help reduce stress while everything is being reviewed.

If your family is dealing with the aftermath of a serious or fatal crash, having the right support can make a difficult situation easier to navigate. A wrongful death lawyer can help manage insurance issues, keep everything organized, and guide you through the next steps while you focus on what matters most.
