State College, PA (June 13, 2022) – One person was killed in a bicycle accident that took place in State College on Thursday evening, June 9.
According to State College officials, the accident happened around 7:54 p.m. on Edgewood Circle. A bicyclist, identified as 36-year-old Juan Osorio, was riding his bicycle on the local bike path when he entered the roadway. His bike was suddenly struck by a vehicle that was traveling in the area, being driven by a 16-year-old resident.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist was immediately rushed to UPMC Altoona with a traumatic brain injury. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the road was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
