Shrewsbury Township, PA (August 1, 2025) – Four people were injured after a tractor-trailer crash left thousands of hot dogs scattered across the highway, according to the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company.
A crash involving at least one tractor-trailer and another vehicle happened on Interstate 83 just south of Exit 8, Route 216/Glen Rock, in Shrewsbury Township at 9:13 a.m. on August 1.
The tractor-trailer split open and spilled 1,000 pounds of frozen hot dogs across the road, according to PennDOT. According to the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company, four people were transported to York Hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
That said, the cause of the crash remains under investigation in the meantime, and officers with the Shrewsbury Township Police Department asked any witnesses to get in touch right away.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their complete and swift recovery.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is the site of thousands of vehicle accidents annually, resulting in serious injuries or fatalities for many drivers. Like residents of many other states, Pennsylvanians may be particularly concerned about the dangers and risks of truck accidents, especially when traversing the multi-lane roadways and heavily trafficked interstates spanning our state. Of course, Pennsylvania sees a lot of truck traffic because of the state's vast system of roads and interstates.
Moreover, accidents involving multiple drivers or large vehicles, such as trucks, are likely to be catastrophic and even deadly. For example, in one recent year alone, 166,833 truck accidents took place throughout the United States. Around 4,678 of them resulted in deaths. Though Florida, Texas, and California were the top states for these accidents, Pennsylvania wasn't far behind.
There were around 10,000 to 12,000 truck accidents in Pennsylvania in one recent year, meaning that our state ranked fourth for the occurrence of these severe collisions. Approximately 250 to 300 people lost their lives in these incidents, and more than 4,000 to 5,000 were injured. That said, those interested in filing claims against the insurance company of an at-fault truck driver in a Pennsylvania truck accident may face an uphill battle.
In other words, victims do not deal with the average motorist in these claims. Unfortunately, many insurance firms are solely interested in limiting their financial exposure and maximizing their earnings. Additionally, the trucking corporations that victims typically face are usually well-funded, with an army of lawyers fighting for their interests.
For these reasons and more, following a truck accident that ended in injuries or even in a loved one's tragic and sudden death, crash victims can and should take legal action with the help of a skilled legal team. You shouldn't delay reaching out to a truck accident lawyer as soon as possible so that you can focus on your physical and emotional recovery from your life-changing crash rather than on mounting medical expenses and other bills.
