Philadelphia, PA – Two Injured in Plane Crash Near Grant Ave & Torresdale Ave

Philadelphia, PA (April 2, 2026) – Two people were injured in a plane crash on Wednesday, April 1, near Grant Avenue and Torresdale Avenue in the Torresdale section of Northeast Philadelphia. Emergency units responded around 3:30 p.m. after reports that a small aircraft had gone down near Fluehr Park.

The Federal Aviation Administration declared the aircraft was a Piper PA-28, a small four-seat plane. The plane went down south of Northeast Philadelphia Airport after experiencing a loss of power over the Delaware River. The pilot and a student on board attempted an emergency landing before the crash.

Responders arrived and worked to remove one person from the wreckage. Both occupants suffered serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials said the crash caused a small fuel spill, but no fire broke out.

The video showed the aircraft striking a tree, leaving the nose heavily damaged and debris scattered across the area. Investigators confirmed the pilot had issued a distress call while attempting to reach the airport.
