Philadelphia, PA (June 28, 2024) - A severe pedestrian crash has left a woman injured and her 4-year-old son in critical condition following an incident on Tuesday evening in Northeast Philadelphia. According to the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD), the 26-year-old woman and her child were crossing Bridge St at Summerdale Ave when they were struck by a 2002 Toyota Highlander. The automobile, making a left turn onto Bridge St, collided with the pedestrians. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 6 p.m.

Both victims were promptly transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Currently, the woman is reported to be in stable condition, while her son was subsequently transferred to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the crash site, and as of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
